What makes a podcast agency an AI visibility agency versus just a production shop?

… Most podcast agencies are optimizing for human listeners or … for just the vanity metrics, the download numbers, the audio quality, the clicks, the turnaround time, production-type metrics. … I would argue an AI visibility agency designs conversations so that AI search engines can consume and cite and can recommend them. That's really the key difference. The difference is the question design going in, not just the editing out.

Editor’s note: Whether and how AI search engines index, cite, or recommend podcast-derived content depends on the engine and content format. This is the core premise of the PCT framework; independent evidence for the citation rate improvement is not provided in this episode.

How does that change how you would prep for an episode versus how a traditional agency would prep someone for a podcast?

It's all about the questions, and this kind of like the PCT framework, right? … The first letter in that is P for plan. And planning is really the magic here, take your transcript from your podcast or your recording, your webinar, and clean it up for AI to be able to learn from because they're not, it's not really an efficient use of their time. But if you can get them a cleaned-up transcript, that's helpful. But really the big lift in the 80/20 rule here, the 80% is gonna start with the planning. And what we like to do is start with an ideal outcomes document. So not just have a, like a, an ideal is in mind, but actually have a stated outcome that we're looking to hit.

Editor’s note: How AI models process raw versus edited transcripts depends on the model and context. The claim that unedited text is an inefficient use of their time is an inference about model internals; we could not verify this as a general rule.

What is the Capture stage of the PCT framework?

Heading written by editors (paraphrased)

The capture is the recording itself, what we're doing right now. It's still conversational, it's still human and … still 45 minutes or however long it is, but the host has a recording brief with answer shaping prompts, right? On your end, there's, these are the things we're trying to achieve. So rather than necessarily just being a fun time of two of us sitting down together, which we'll have to do later on probably with a cigar. But what the difference here is we have a mission in to answer this question as best as possible, knowing that this will be able to be consumed by agents afterward. So it's a little more structured and it has a little more order to it.

What is the Transform stage of the PCT framework?

we talked about the plan, we’ve talked about the capture. That transform, right? What that all, is all about is just turning this sort of messy human conversation into this structured answer asset, Q&A blocks, … pages, comparison tables, step-by-step guides, … hub pages with schema markup.

Does making episodes shorter make podcast production more efficient?

Heading written by editors (paraphrased)

… the myth is if we just make episodes shorter, we'll be more efficient, more efficient with our time, get what we need. But the truth is, a 20-minute episode with bad questions produces less usable content than a 45-minute episode with great questions. One well-designed question produces a definition, a comparison, a myth/truth, process answer all in one response, kind, But kind, this this answer, this question and answer right now, right? And so well-designed question can turn into all those things.

Editor’s note: This is Casey’s assessment based on Ringmaster’s production experience. We could not find independent research confirming this specific comparison.

How does strategic guest sourcing create AI-visible content?

it’s almost like chicken and the egg. Is the, is the answer the most important? Is the question the most important? Or is it something else? I think the answer is yes for this. guests are important, and we’ve talked about the prep for the question and the transformation afterward, but the guest is like another part of it.

What's the common mistake companies make when picking podcast guests?

And so they often bring in guests that allow them to continue to talk about themselves. Uh, they also … bring in guests that don’t have a … credibility out in the marketplace. And this … also doesn’t mean someone famous. This means someone credible who has … the right … tied to them.

What does the output of an AI visibility podcast look like compared to a traditional podcast?

… traditional podcast output, one episode. It's on Transistor, it's on Apple, Spotify. You have show notes on a website, maybe a few social clips that people are commenting on LinkedIn. … A PCT podcast output. All of … the above, of course, might as well if humans are chatting, plus five to 15 structured, You answer assets, Q&A blocks, pages, definition pages, comparison tables, step-by-step guides, a hub page with schema markup, articles, podcast episode, person, organization, FAQ, how-to, right? These different markups that specifically answer things that they need to see as they're scraping, as they're trying to compile an answer. It's an evidence ledger tracking of what was produced from each episode, and there's an entity relationship verification for each one.

Editor’s note: This is Ringmaster’s reported typical output range. Actual results vary by episode length, question quality, and content type.

How does a marketing leader pitch an AI visibility podcast to their CEO or board?

The pitch is simple. Our competitors are showing up when buyers ask AI for recommendations. We're not. This fixes that. 76% increase in LLM first search behavior year over year. Buyers are asking AI before they even Google it. So the ROI framing you would present, one 45-minute conversation per week produces more structured AI visible content than a full-time content writer can produce in a month, and it comes with real human attribution, which the AI engines are gonna trust more.

Editor’s note: No source was cited for the 76% figure during the interview. We could not identify the original data. The separate claim that one 45-minute conversation produces more structured AI-visible content than a full-time content writer in a month is Casey’s estimate; we could not verify this comparison independently.

What if a company already has a content team, or already tried a podcast that didn't work?

… If you already have a content team, I would say Do this. Use your content team to start making content for the new audience. I think the point here is that there is a new audience, they're being neglected, and neglect them at your own peril, not in a Terminator way, but in a, you become more and more invisible as people Google less and less and less, and just ask someone to just figure it out for them.

Editor’s note: We could not find independent data confirming the specific rate of Google search decline described here.

Host’s closing reflection (Adam Needles)

Question as asked: Before we close up, does anything stand out to you from this? What stands out to you from AI visibility?

I think the most important, uh, piece in this is, um, how do you answer the questions the AI agents are looking for, but how do you also expand the realm of what they consider so that the humans that the agents are developing summaries for are not presented with a narrow view, but that the actual effort to engage with the AI agent actually expands the education and the knowledge and the sort of parameters of how they’re thinking. … How does this become not just rote response to query, but actually just, … fuel the AI moment, which is kind of expanding the thinking?
